清洪文章開首先講他小時候在馬來西亞的一個平靜小鎮長大,初次到新加坡才驚見建築物之大及街道行人的擁擠,後來到了倫敦攻讀法律,又開始認識真正的大城市 - as a child I was brought up in a quiet, peaceful place, a small town that was almost as quiet as the countryside.I recall visiting Singapore as a boy for the first time and thinking how big the buildings were and how crowded the streets were.Later when I studied law in London I learned what a really big city was like.

So my heart sank when I learned that Japanese are getting fed up with uncouth tourists(當我聽聞日本人開始對粗野遊客感到厭惡之時,不禁內心一沉); Today’s visitors are, say more and more Japanese,loud-mouthed, discourteous and have poor manners(愈來愈多日本人認為現時的遊客大多吵吵鬧鬧、粗魯無禮兼舉止不端);What has angered the residents of one area of Kyoto is the slovenly way of foreigners that treat their rubbish(京都地區居民對外地人處理垃圾的馬虎態度而感到憤怒)。

我認為文章最精警的還是這句 - You could say that while the Chinese have fallen in love with Japan the trouble is that Japanese have grown increasingly disenchanted with their new guests (當中國人已愛上日本之際,日本居民卻對這批新訪客日漸失望)。
